Painted on location just north of Crested Butte, this 16 x 16” plein air study captures the mountain’s rugged structure under a wide Colorado sky. Thick palette-knife strokes carve the forms with real physical texture, while cool blues and violet-rock notes contrast against bright, sunlit greens in the foreground. It’s a small painting with a big sense of elevation—fresh, direct, and full of that high-country air.
